In conversation with Elias Gozal

New conversation with my dear friend Elias Gozal. He is a DJ and also works as a professional model.

I love The Door because it reminds me of Berlin but I really like Flower Boy for the cute days.

What did you have for breakfast today?

I had Skyr with peanut butter, pomegranate and coconut.

If I remember correctly, you started DJing early on. How old were you and what made you start?

I was 14 when I started and I played my first club gig about a year and a half later. A teacher at my school was a vinyl DJ. I got hooked after twisting the knobs and equalising the bass. I found touching the record players so fascinating so I kept going.

Are there any artists that you would love to collaborate with?

Uhhh yes, many! I would love to work with my friend NSDOS one day, maybe local heroes like HVAD, and a lot of crazy producers like DJRUM & Vladimir Dubyshkin.

There are a lot of dancers and performers that I think are amazing like Ylva Falk and the Danish dance group Corpus, who all are royal ballet dancers. I also have this fascination with capoeira at the moment.

What’s your craziest/funniest night behind the decks? And when I say craziest, I mean craziest.

I have played so many weird gigs haha. My first gig was quite a crazy experience because I was only 15 and playing a vinyl set at a club called Bakken, which is almost an institution here in Copenhagen.

I also enjoyed the invitation to join Jordan/Mall Grab for the closing of Distortion festival in front of 5000 people in my home city.

People say that Copenhagen is the happiest city in the world. How happy are you?

I’m super happy! Fuck the racists cunts out there though.

Which perfume from our first series is your favourite? What makes it special for you?

I have a lot of different moods so choosing one perfume is very hard. I love The Door because it reminds me of Berlin but I really like Flower Boy for the cute days. I'm still waiting for you guys to give me a sample of Daddy (unreleased).

If you were a perfume, how would you smell?

Like my dad's 1964 Mustang.

As a professional model and DJ, how do you handle physical distancing?

I just did an editorial shoot for printed mag over FaceTime. I mostly spend my time in the studio making tracks or doing live streams with our collective, Agartha. I also have my monthly radio show on MMH Radio.

Who inspires you at the moment?

My mom and the music she played for me as kiddo.

Who should I have my next conversation with?

Elise By Olsen, my little sister. The true voice of the Scandinavian youth, not like all those cloned bullshit "influencers".

Elias loves The Door.
